DNA DANCE ROUTINE

Advanced Preparation

There are several possible creative dance routines that could be performed involving the various themes of biotechnology. Students could represent DNA components, or parts of the DNA spiral. They could also represent other biological components. You should discuss the following information with the appropriate instructors:

* Biology - Possible dance routines.

* Drama - Lighting techniques.

Introduction

Students will be assigned to perform a creative DNA dance routine based upon the theme chosen by the instructor and students. Students may have either individual or group assignments.

Student Objectives

* Students will learn the basic skills of dancing.

* Students will develop the ability to perform in a group setting.

* Students will acquire knowledge of DNA related information.

Class Time Needed

A minimum of 10 class periods are needed for the students to complete this activity.

Procedure

1. Students select type of dance routine.

2. Students participate in assigned dance routine.

3. Students performance is evaluated.
