He says, "...you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them." Atticus' advice is appropriate for undertanding characters in literature also. Often we can learn alot about the characters in a novel by pretending to be them. This assignment asks you to take on the role of a character by writing a letter from that character's point of view. You are taking on the "persona" of the character, writing as if you are that person. To do this you will need to think carefully about the character's actions, vocabulary usage, and any background information you know about him. Taking all these points into consideration, you will write a letter based on the situations given to another character. By writing the letter, you will imitate the style of writing of Frankenstein, focus in on the points of view of the characters, and see differences in their ideas about science.
