Duplication of "WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE?", "GENETICS VOCABULARY", and "BEP WORD SEARCH" is all that is needed to prepare this lesson for your students (approximately 5 minutes). Students will need one class period (and probably homework time) to complete all the activities.
These exercises will help familiarize your students with some of the terms used in genetics. They are intended to be used before your students are introduced to any of the math genetics lessons. Have your students read (either silently, or out loud) the explanation of the various genetics terms, then solve the riddle by writing the letter in the blank that corresponds to the correct term. The word search may be used as a class assignment, or if they need more time it could be given as a homework assignment.
Students will define commonly used genetics terms.
