Dr. Zaitseva is standing next to a crystal growing chamber. She is explaining to
San Ramon Valley Unified Scshool District administrators how the crystals are grown
using technology that she developed. This technology was created to grown crystals
to be used to make lenses for the National Ignation Facility (NIF) at LLNL. NIF is
under construction, but when it is completed will be the world's largest laser. Laura Seeley, the Chemistry teacher from Monte Vista High School, will be working in this laboratory this summer. |
