Leslie Carman, the laboratory crystal growth chemist, is explaining to Laura Seeley how the crystal chambers are operated. Ms. Carmon mentored Ms. Seeley during her 1999 summer internship. During this internship Ms. Seeley learned to grow crystals, helped design a crystal growing chamber that is appropriate for classrooms, and converted the protocols used to grow KDP crystals in a commercial setting so the will work in high schools. |
