Dr. Alan Burnham, KDP Section Leader in the Inertial Confinement
Fusion Program, discusses how the KDP (potassium-dihydrogen-phosphate) crystals
will be used to convert the frequency of the laser beam in National
Ignition Facility (NIF). High school students will be able to perform some of
the same experiments that were used to develop this technology which is essential
to the operation of the worlds largest laser. |
