Please consider the following guidelines when inviting Fun with Science to visit your school:
- A responsible person must stay in the room with the presenter at all times.
- Our presenters cannot be responsible for discipline for the group. The school/event will need to designate a person responsible for discipline.
- The school/event site must have a current safety procedures plan on site as well as posted emergency numbers.
- Students and parents should be notified in written form of our visit prior to the day we present at your site. Notification should include a notation about safety awareness. You may want to send a note home with your students similar to the example given. (Sample Letter, PDF 12K)
- Please limit group size to no more than 40 people at a session as smaller groups are more effective.
- We ask that our science van carrying all our equipment be able to drive on to the site grounds to get as close to the presentation room as possible.
- We will need to darken the room and would prefer a room with shades or curtains.
- Set up and take down each take thirty minutes, so we prefer to set up in one location and stay there for all presentations. Please consider conflicts with other school functions in the same room such as lunch, other meetings or assemblies, etc.
- Please provide assistance of a custodian or another adult to help us unload and reload our equipment into our van. The equipment is bulky and heavy, so no stairs, please!
- Equipment: We bring most everything needed, but ask that you provide at least two standard library tables, 6' by 2' or so. We need an electrical outlet somewhere in the area of the presentation and a large waste basket. Student chairs should be arranged in rows for viewing the presentation with the tables arranged at the front of the room.
- ** Please let your administrator and school secretaries know of the Fun With Science up-coming visit as our presenter will check in with your office site upon arrival.
- ** Upon confirmation, please send us a map of how to get to your site location, including directions for unloading, parking, and the room to be used.
